Body Wisdom
4-week course in January.
what is it?
A gathering of humans to move their bodies simultaneously and separately. Think of a yoga class, but not-yoga.
- self-massage tools (Yoga Tune Up balls)
- Mindfulness
- Somatic Movements
- Guided Imagery
- Pranayama (Breath care)
- Contemplative conversation.
- Creative expression (journaling, art, etc)
This is a safe space for every body to feel and move together. You’re invited to move in a way that feels good to your body to bring awareness and life-loving energy to your day. We will connect and disconnect meaningfully with intention and purpose. The sessions are carefully curated but also flexible to invite the energy of the times.
why?
I envision a world where people are understanding their bodies as a compass to know what is best for their life and the community they serve. Learning to read our body is another tool that can take time and attention and honing as a skill. Building and recognizing more safety in our own system allows for quick and efficient reading of safety in the world around us. This course facilitates a deeper relating experience between yourself and your body and how that relates to the world.
who?
I hope people join who are curious about how to live better with more freedom. People who feel stressed but the conventional way of de-stressing isn’t working. People with chronic illness. People who want to understand their inner landscape better. People who want to ask big questions about this life time.
People with limited funds but who want to transform the current paradigm. People who see the current hyper-individualism as toxic and unsustainable and see moving together as a revolutionary act. People who want to practice rest as resistance. People who know that transforming their own life and body is how they find freedom. And maybe an individual doesn’t *know* that yet but that idea sounds really, really good.
Important to note: not all movements are for every body. You are in charge of your body and experience at all times. Only do what feels good and productively challenging and leave the rest.
Why the start of 2025?
New Years bring a new uncovering, a new chapter, and a new story write. I’ll be honest, I’m not a huge fan of New Years resolutions. The new beginning starts for me when SPRING comes. However, there is a newness to begin contemplating when New Years comes around. Many of us have spent the last few weeks…months…maybe years.. feeling a little scared or challenged or confused. (I see this in almost all of my coaching calls.)
Many of us are looking toward the future with weary but hopeful eyes. We’ve been in and underground journey and we’re looking up toward the sunlight. There’s no doubt the world will look differently. In so many ways, it already does. If you’re someone who’s looking to transform your relating with yourself within this bigger world in 2025, join me in January.
Body Wisdom is a different approach to well-being. It’s a new learning about your body and the soul inside your body and how that body relates to the rest of the world and each other.
Body Wisdom is a course I’ve been curating over the past 15 years of my own healing journey. This could be a big challenge to consider moving through the world with JOY and pleasure at the forefront of your movements. We can’t unravel years of conditioning in one day/class/weekend but we can begin to slowly transform our relationship to move toward JOY. Or at the very least, begin to recognize joy & pleasure when it crosses our path.
Do you see yourself in any of these…?
If you’ve never felt comfortable in your body, this course will allow for the softening and opening to a new experience.
If you were taught you shouldn’t rest, this course is for you. We will slowly and easily bring your awareness to what relaxation may feel like.
If you find it hard to sleep or switch from one mode to another. We will cultivate a slow noticing to shift states.
If you work hard and play harder and know somewhere in your bones that lifestyle is not sustainable, this course is for you. We’ll find the space between the extremes.
If you’ve never valued the magnificence that is your body, we will explore how to begin to embrace and love your relationship to your body.
If you look in the mirror and see something different than what your head feels, this course will begin to reshape your connection.
If you can’t relax, you hold your limbs during a massage, or find yourself gripping or clenching, this course will gently replace tension with ease.
If you are unsure how ‘relaxed’ can feel wildly different than ‘work’ or ‘push more’, this class will teach you to distinctly feel the difference and how to access either extreme and the space between.
If you’ve found yourself feeling unsafe in other “healing places,” (I get this in my bones) this course is for you because you decide your level of interaction.
If you’ve found yourself leery of “shadow work” this is the opportunity for you to connect deeply with your self instead of diving deep into the unknown trenches of “shadow work.”
If you continually feel incongruent in areas of your life, let’s find solid ground for you to locate what you want for yourself.
