Our Journey through space and time.
Every since I started massage school in 2007, I had my eye on Barefoot Massage. (It was called Ashiatsu back then.) In 2011, the opportunity presented itself to take this training. I was already doing acrobatics so it felt natural do be in the air and using my entire body to perform something. Immediately, I knew this was the type of massage I wanted to solely practice. I traveled back to St. Louis and started making plans. In early 2012, I set out on my own in a sweet little spot in the Lindenwood neighborhood. I was there for around 2 years when I started to grow out of that space. More and more clients were coming and hearing about the service I gave so I wanted to add to my team. I set up shop knowing it would be temporary in an office building at Clayton
and Hanley Rd. It was about 4 months of being there and then we found our “permanent” space in Frontenac. I struggled in West County. I couldn’t seem to connect with anyone and it just felt like it wasn’t right. The space in Maplewood opened up so in 2015, we settled in. Maplewood is our jam! Our unique offering pairs well with many of the other innovative and eclectic businesses. Our brand has really established itself here. We’ve grown and shrunk and expanded. We were able to train many LMTs from all over in barefoot massage as we grew into our teaching studio.
It’s a true gift to deliver barefoot massage!
There has been a lot of shifting in these feet and one thing I’ve learned is that it has to “feel” right. And sometimes that takes time and sometimes it’s a swift decision. But my feelings have never steered me wrong. And through this next phase of Coronavirus and a deeper look at the Black Lives Matter Movement, we’ll rest and wait until the time is right to serve our community through in-person barefoot massage.
I hope that you’ll join us keeping our community safe.
