This is a long post but it’s important to read all the way through.
A wise person once told me, “A good business person will always be looking for opportunities and will always be reinventing their business.” An equally wise person told me, “Sometimes in business, you have to throw stuff on the wall and see what sticks.”
There is no manual to life. Ultimately, you are the chooser in your experience. You can choose to allow others to choose for you or you can choose to create for yourself. The last year and a half has been such an amazing learning experience in so many ways. If you have been around our practice long enough, you’ll know that my business is a deep reflection of myself and ultimately, that is spiritual to me. I’m talking about my decisions being guided by something bigger than myself. I quiet my mind. I listen. I act.
There was a knocking notion for awhile that more of my spirit (and Nikki’s) needed to be represented in the way we operate. We are a fun, lively, and passionate set of massage therapists. In many ways for many years, we’ve been feeling stifled by legislation and politics dampening our true, shiny nature. Many of this you may not consciously know what I’m talking about but in quiet ways, it has affected the way we practice. We believe that our bodies really want to move towards balance and if we allow that balance to trickle in, peace and wellness follow. To allow all of that great balance to find it’s way to you, it’s important to feel freedom to express.
In order to allow that freedom, we are going to be changing our operating name and logo. We know we want to focus on DeepFeet Ashiatsu Barefoot Massage. Soon, we will be known as Sole Shine Barefoot Massage Therapy. We will have a new website with more engaging information to keep you connected to us between your sessions. You will also find on our online schedule that we no longer offer hands-on massage. As I mentioned, we will focus on Ashiatsu but if you are accustomed to receiving a hands-on massage, that is still an option. Your massage is your session, we just ask you tell us what you would like to happen during your time on our table.
While we enjoyed the last year w Dr. Matt, in order to be able to allow that freedom, we are moving to a new part of town. Remember the, “throwing ideas on the wall and see what sticks?” We really thought being in Frontenac wouldn’t affect our ability to deliver excellent service but in reality, it has. We have struggled to gain the support of the community and honestly, Hwy 40 at rush hour is a nightmare. Dr. Matt has a different business structure and seems to be doing well where he is. He will remain in our current location and Nikki and I will be moving to Maplewood! While he is bummed that we won’t be in the same space, he is supportive of our move and happy for us. We will still be in close contact about who we see and will still suggest each others services as it seems appropriate. Not only do we want you to continue to see Dr. Matt & Dr. Emily, we encourage it; but the way you schedule your appointments may need to shift somewhat.
We will join the community-focused business district in downtown Maplewood. We are striving for a July 1 open date. You can expect to see a lot of changes in our communication over that time. We will be redeveloping our approach to your care. We have always wanted to maintain communication with you between appointments to ensure that we are encompassing our goal of helping you to live your best life. We hope that you will join us in reaching that goal for both, you and us.
We are excited about our new atmosphere we get to create for you. Our plans are awesome and I think you’ll find Nikki’s artistic influence very aesthetic and soothing.
For the future, we have looked at many factors that will help maintain our future and keep our ability to provide excellent services and resources sustainable and available to you. In order to do that, we will be moving away from packages and moving into a membership structure. Nikki and I have spent hours shaping exactly how this will go and throwing around specific scenarios to ensure that each person was considered in moving forward with this change. We also know that we will not be able to please everyone and therefore, we had to eventually make some decisions. At the beginning of each conversation and through out, we continually asked ourselves, Does this fall in line with our mission of, “Empowering your commit to your wellness to live your best life by providing the highest quality in deep pressure massage while keeping our prices attainable and our schedule flexible.” With this new structure, we will be able to plan for the future and I must say, our plans are going to be FUN! With this structure, we will be able to provide more give-aways, contests, specials, pop-up deals, classes, parties, and events.

As you can see, a lot is changing but I must say, Nikki and I are very excited. We see so much potential in our future. We have seen massage be a pivotal life changing regimen in so many peoples life. We want to be able to share our gift and with our combined years and different areas of training, we are confident that we can help you live your best life!
